Contractor: Skanska UK Ltd

Client: Brent Council

Brent Civic Centre is the new headquarters of Brent Council bringing together all the councils staff and public facilities under one roof for the first time and was confirmed in September 2012 as the UK’s greenest public building.

The structure consists of a steel and glass office block to accommodate council staff and an iconic timber slatted civic drum housing a public library community hall and civic chamber. Anglewest worked closely with Skanska’s site team to develop the access and protection scaffolds as the project evolved, these included general internal access platforms, hoist loading towers, banner support frames, temporary roofs and a radius stepped birdcage in and around the drum.

In addition, Anglewest were also commissioned by the Curtain Walling Contractor, Yuanda Ltd, to erect access/lifting towers to raise and install high level glass panels to the main entrance stairs.
